Grooves ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Grooves mobile apps or website, you agree to the practices described here.

Your Data Stays Private

None of your data is ever shared, sold, or stored externally. All your data always stays on Grooves servers. We never sell your personal information to third parties, and we never share it with advertisers or data brokers. Your privacy is fundamental to how we operate.

What We Collect

  • Account information: email, name (if provided).
  • App activity and wellbeing entries you choose to log.
  • Photos or videos you choose to capture or upload within the app.
  • Device information for diagnostics (e.g., app version, OS version, crash logs).

Habit Visibility and Sharing

Only habits you choose to make public will be shown to other users. By default, all your habits are private. You have complete control over which habits, if any, are visible to others in the Grooves community.

Completion data is never shared on solo habits. For collaborative habits, completion data is only visible to members who are in or invited to that specific collaborative habit. Your solo habit completion data remains completely private and is never shared with anyone, including other users or third parties.

Camera and Media Access

The Android app requests android.permission.CAMERA to allow you to capture photos or videos directly in the app (for example, profile photos or journaling attachments). Camera access is used only when you tap an action that opens the camera. We do not run the camera in the background, perform biometric analysis, or collect facial recognition data.

If you prefer, you may select images/videos from your gallery instead of using the camera.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve app features, including analytics and personalized insights.
  • Sync your entries securely across devices.
  • Customer support and service communications.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers who help us operate the product (for example, hosting, analytics, crash reporting, subscriptions). These providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations and are only used for essential services. All your data remains on Grooves servers and is never stored externally or shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Data Storage and Security

All your data is stored on Grooves servers using reputable cloud providers with industry-standard security. We apply access controls and encryption where appropriate. No system is 100% secure; if we learn of a breach, we will notify affected users as required by law.

Your Choices

  • You can withdraw camera access at any time in your device settings.
  • You can view, edit, or delete your entries in the app.
  • You can control which habits are public or private.
  • You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

Grooves is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us to delete it.

International Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. We take steps to ensure appropriate protections are in place.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted here with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes becomes effective means you accept the revised policy.
